Meet Nathan Ngai

What brought you to the Oval? What made you choose the Oval?

I never do skating, but that’s what brought me to the oval. That one time drop in led to different things, such as trying out the gym and classes at the Oval. It was also very convenient for me as I live really close by.

What are your favourite activities here and why?

My main reason for a membership would be the gym. But my favourite activity would be playing basketball. Since they have 6 courts, there usually isn’t too much wait time.

OctMem34How do you find the Oval different from others? What makes us unique?

Oval has more than just a gym. They offer a wide range of actives, such as basket ball, badminton, volleyball, oval classes, and much more. I like having the option to do all these activities whenever I want.

Do you find it beneficial to work out with friends/family members?

I find it highly beneficial to work out with a friend around. Especially when they are there to motivate you on your last rep. Typically cables, bench presses or the squat racks are my go-to, goals are always to lift heavier and strength train.

How has the Oval supported you in your fitness journey?

The Oval has supported me in many ways. One for example would be the Oval Challenge. It has motivated me to drop by the gym more often knowing that I signed up for the Oval Challenge. The prizes are great, I’ve received duffle bags, smoothie cards for the Ocafe (protein shakes are great), skip ropes and more. I would like to see more incorporations with the different services at the Oval for prizes (Rox Shop, Ocafe etc).

octmem35What are some activities that you would like to try at the Oval?

Rock climbing. Its been there forever, but I never had the time to do it. Maybe this summer I’ll find the time to do it. I recommend if possible punching bags on the third floor, kick boxing is a new thing in the market.

What do you enjoy the most in life?

I love the little things in life. Whether its reading a book, going for a morning jog or just hanging with friends, I believe its best to appreciate the every day things we do. Summer activities include hikes to the Chief, Grouse or Sea to Sky or kayaking/rafting.
